Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I get in touch with professors and lecturers (office hours, exams, other questions)?
You usually contact members of the department by email. Please make sure to use your smail account. Before writing an email, please always check whether the question or required information is answered or can be found on the website and whether you are writing to the right person. Clearly state your request in the subject line and, in addition to your name, always state your matriculation number, the degree program and the course or examination format on which you have a question. Reply to emails in such a way that a previous exchange is still visible and it remains clear what you have already discussed.
It is also important to pay attention to expression and politeness. The tone of an email in a university context is formal, which means that you should also pay attention to spelling and grammar as well as general form, otherwise this might reflect negatively on you. Please also pay attention to the correct form of address and closing formulas and inform yourself in advance if necessary. Finally, make sure you spell the recipient's name correctly.
