Information on Term Papers (MAP)
For writing term papers as final module exams in your course of studies at the English Seminar II, please always refer to our “How to Write a Term Paper,” guidelines which serve as the basic guide.
The guidelines provide, among other things, essential information on:
- The academic standards and criteria underlying a research paper
- the formal criteria for writing a term paper at the English Seminar II
- important suggestions on topic selection and literature research
You are expected to be familiar with these guidelines when discussing possible term paper topics with your instructors and, at the latest, when you begin your actual writing process. Should you want to stray from these guidelines (e.g., citation style), you must discuss this with your term paper advisor in advance.
Information on Final Theses (Bachelor’s / Master’s Theses)
In general, the guidelines outlined in “How to Write a Term Paper” apply to bachelor’s and master’s theses as well.
Important:
The final thesis must be submitted exclusively in digital form (see below for further organizational information).
Printed copies or submissions on CD-ROM cannot be accepted or forwarded for evaluation by the ZFL examination office.
For more detailed organizational information on bachelor’s and master’s theses, please refer to the corresponding ZfL pages for the bachelor's thesis and master's thesis (available in German only).
Supervision of Bachelor’s / Master’s Theses
The following ES II instructors are currently available as Bachelor’s / Master’s thesis advisors
Declaration of Authorship
Every term paper must include a fully completed and signed declaration of authorship (form available in German only). It should be attached to the term paper to ensure that only one single PDF is submitted.
