Per Esben Svelstad is Professor of Norwegian at the Department of Teacher Education, NTNU in Trondheim, Norway. He holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from NTNU (2017), with a focus on queer theory and literature. Since joining teacher education in 2018, he has shifted his research focus to the Environmental Humanities, in particular ecocriticism and Environmental and Sustainability Education. He has published in leading Scandinavian and international journals on literary studies, literature education and ecocriticism, such as Comparative Literature Studies, Acta Didactica, and ISLE. His most recent book, Same-Sex Desire and the Environment in Norwegian Literature, 1908–1979, was published in 2024.
